Chocolate Gravy by LeAnne Bristow

One of the best things about the holidays is getting together with family and friends. And get togethers mean one thing. Food. Which, just happens to be one of my favorite things.

Christmas Town’s Garland family has their own family traditions. Nana Elaine loves to have the family come over for breakfast. And she goes out of her way to help each family member feel special is to make their favorite food.

Nana Elaine makes homemade biscuits with gravy. The rest of them family may prefer country gravy on their biscuits, but Nana always makes a batch of chocolate gravy especially for Jaycee. Now, if you’ve never had chocolate gravy, you are in for a huge treat.

1 stick margarine, melted

½ c. flour

1/3 c. cocoa

¾ c. sugar

1 can evaporated milk

1 c. water.

Add flour, cocoa and sugar to butter. Stir in liquids. Stir and heat while it thickens.

Server over fresh baked biscuits. And if you don’t have that, a slice of bread will do. And if you can’t find any bread, just eat it out of the bowl with a spoon. Not that I have ever done that.
